Union’s Emma Peters honored by Governor, chooses Mr. Wigg as most influential teacher
Union graduate Emma Peters chose teacher Bruce Wigg as the most influential teacher who helped her succeed, when she was honored by Gov. Kim Reynolds at the annual Iowa Governor’s Scholars ceremony.
“I had him for World Studies, Psychology, and American Government,” says Emma. “I just really enjoyed learning in all of his classes, and I feel like I learned a lot about the subject matter, but also a lot of life skills and life lessons. Also, he is a great teacher, and you can tell how passionate he is about the subjects he teaches which just makes learning the material more interesting and enjoyable.”
Emma says her favorite memories from Mr. Wigg’s class are the times he shared “all the little anecdotes he tells about his life experiences.”
Mr. Wigg accompanied Emma and her family to Des Moines for the ceremony, where the top senior in each of Iowa’s high schools were recognized.
Emma plans to attend the University of Iowa where after two years of prerequisite course work, she will attend the College of Pharmacy for four years.
