Virginia Gay Hospital and marketing partner Monkeythis, of Vinton, recently won three awards in the 35th Annual National Healthcare Advertising Award competition. The competition drew 4,000 entries, and a national panel of judges reviewed the submissions for creativity, quality, message effectiveness, consumer appeal, graphic design and overall impact. Virginia Gay and Monkeythis won a gold award for the professional recruitment program, “Grow With Us,” that utilized social media, television advertising, print, direct mail, and websites designed specifically for recruiting.
“We get great satisfaction from doing creative and effective work for all our clients,” says Monkeythis’ Kurt Karr. “When we do excellent work for them, it drives economic growth through employment, and purchases our clients make in their local communities. We take special pride in the work we do for Virginia Gay Hospital and Clinics because it also means better health for our friends and neighbors. We couldn’t consistently produce the quality of output we do without the close cooperation and guidance of Virginia Gay administration and staff.”
The team also won a silver award for the bi-annual Virginia Gay magazine, “Thrive,” and an award of merit for the promotion of the Virginia Gay Hospital Health Care Foundation’s health fair. The health fair draws several hundred people to participate in games and activities, receive free health screenings, and enjoy educational opportunities with more than 50 local vendors.
“These awards are the result of a team effort,” according to Bobbie Hendryx, Monkeythis Creative Director. “As a team, we bring out the best in each other’s work and build on our successes. Each day we strive to produce work that not only looks good but does the essential work of communicating well on behalf of our client.”
The annual Healthcare Advertising Awards is the oldest and one of the largest healthcare-specific advertising and marketing competitions in the U.S. Healthcare Marketing Report, a weekly publication focused on healthcare issues affecting hospitals, sponsors the annual awards.
