VINTON: Andy Lee Motto, age 74, died Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at his home in Vinton following a sudden illness.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at the Phillips Funeral Home Chapel in Vinton (212 E. 6th St.) with Pastor Mike Ferguson officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Geo G. Luckey American Legion Post #57 and U.S. Navy Military Funeral Honors following the funeral service. Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton with graveside. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until service time on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to the American Cancer Society.
Andy was born on August 31, 1943 to Mike and Hazel (Maynard) Motto in Orville West Virginia. On March 21, 1966, he was united in marriage to Brenda Aldao. Andy served his Country in the United States Air Force for over 20 years and completed his military career with the United States Navy. Following his service, he was employed at the Duane Arnold Energy Center.
He is survived by two children, Mike (Carrie) Motto of Marion and Maria Motto of Vinton; three grandchildren, Jordan, Elijah and Jayce; and his sister Bertha Pohlmann of Vinton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-father and his wife Brenda in 2016
