VINTON:     Myron “Dell” Hanson, Jr., 82, died Monday, November 6, 2017 at Virginia Gay Hospital from complications of Cancer.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday November 11 at 10:30 AM at Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Vinton with Rev. Mark C. Urlaub officiating.  Private Committal Services will be held.  Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 PM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church on Friday, November 10th.  A Memorial Fund has been established for Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Vinton Lutheran Home for the Aged, or a charity of the donor’s choice.

Myron Dell Hanson, known to family and friends as Dell was born March 17, 1935 in Jackson Township of Benton County to Myron Dell and Helen Roberta (Rommann) Hanson, Sr. He graduated from Vinton’s Lincoln High School in 1953.

On November 29, 1953 he was united in marriage to RaMona Smith at Prairie Creek Church north of Vinton.  They would have Celebrated 64 years of marriage later this month.

Dell was a lifelong member of Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church where he served in many capacities. He was a Benton County Supervisor for 16 years, and was State Representative for 2 years. He owned and operated Farmers Sales and Services for 37 years.  At the time of his death he was a Board Member of the Cedar Valley Ranch and the Vinton Lutheran Home for the Aged.

He is survived by his wife, RaMona of Vinton; sons, Myron Dell Hanson, III “Mike” (Mary), John (Shirale) Hanson, Tom (Dana) Hanson, and Ken Hanson, all of Vinton; grandchildren:  Angela (Mark), Myron Dell IV “Marty” (Stephanie), Alyssa (Jon), Aric (Rylie), Andrew (Samantha), Robert (Emily), Katherine, Riley (Hannah), Morgan and Kyle (Kristina); great grandchildren:  Sadie, Kassandra, Sawyer, Kelsey (Dustin), Kamryn, Karli, Elijah and Nora; sister, Patricia (George) Guenther of White Bear Lake, MN; Brother, Wayne (Nancy) Hanson of Marion; Aunt, Dorothy Williamson of Marshalltown; and Sisters-in-law, Bernadette Wilson of Mesa, AZ, Phyllis Tilson of Kensett, and Jean Smith Payne of Mason City.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his great grandson, Cooper Rummel; in-laws, Albert and Marie Smith; brothers-in-law, Kenneth Wilson, Robert Tilson, Richard Smith and Lowell Payne.

Dell was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.  When not spending time with family, he enjoyed visiting friends, and volunteering his time to the homebound and sick. He was a humanitarian and was always making new friends. He never met a stranger.

He lived life to the fullest and touched many lives.  His sense of humor and compassion for others will be greatly missed.
