Howard W. Stiegelmeyer, 83, of Cedar Rapids and formerly of Vinton, died Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids.
Private Graveside Services will be held at Bishop Cemetery in Amana.
Howard was born April 9, 1934 in Benton County to Roy L. and Iola (Rice) Stiegelmeyer and graduated from Vinton’s Lincoln High School in 1951.
He served as the Benton County Emergency Director for twenty-two years. He enjoyed fly-fishing, turning wooden pens and pencils, woodworking and collecting recipes which he liked to prepare for his family.
He was united in marriage to Ellen Hedges on June 1, 1958 at Marengo. He is survived by his wife, Ellen of Cedar Rapids; his son, Loren Stiegelmeyer of Cedar Rapids; his grandchildren, Kelsey and Drew Stiegelmeyer; his sister, Beverly (LaVerne) Beener of Hinsdale, IL; his sister-in-law, Rita Stiegelmeyer of Goosecreek, SC; and his half-brother, Steven (Mary) Stocks of Grimes.
Howard was preceded by his Parents; and his brother, Roy Lee Stiegelmeyer.
