Robert A. Funk, 78, from Fulton, Texas passed away in Corpus Christi, Texas on December 29, 2017. He was lovingly known as the “candy man”.
He was born January 12, 1939 in Dubuque Iowa to Clarence and Margaret Funk. Bob was united in marriage to JoAnn Duggan on December 29, 1962 in Dubuque, Iowa. He graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 1957, University of Dubuque with a business degree in 1963 and a Master’s Degree in Industrial Technology from the University of Wisconsin in 1975. He was a supervisor for John Deere in Dubuque until 1979 when he was transferred to Waterloo, Iowa. He retired in 1992 with 33 years of service. Member of the Dubuque, Cedar Falls, and Waterloo Fraternal Order of Eagles. He held many state and local positions including Past President in Dubuque. Member of the American Legion of Rockport, Texas and a Life Member of Cedar Falls Amvets.
Survived by his wife of 55 years, JoAnn Funk of Fulton, TX; his daughters: Shelley (& Bob) Schmidt of Waterloo, Iowa; Carrie Taylor of Evansdale, Iowa; and Tina (& Brian) Harris of Belle Plaine, Iowa. Brother: Clarence (& Shirley) Funk; Sisters: MaryAnn McGeough; Linda Funk all of Dubuque, Iowa. Brother in law: Kenny (& Sara) Duggan. 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Clarence & Margaret Funk; Parents in law: Michael & Opal Duggan; Sister: Lorraine (& Richard) Brauer; Brother: Donald (& Sandy) Funk, Brother in law: Donald McGeough all of Dubuque, Iowa. Granddaughter: Erin Rash of Waterloo, Iowa. Memorials can be directed to: American Legion Post 363.
