Roy “Butch” Warren Rinderknecht, 76, of Belle Plaine, Iowa, passed away Sept. 12, 2018, at his home surrounded by family.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018, at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service, Belle Plaine, with Chaplain Joe Kane officiating. Burial will take place at Oak
Hill Cemetery in Belle Plaine with military honors.

Roy was born Jan. 25, 1942, to Warren and Clara (Wharton) Rinderknecht in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He attended Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids until joining the U.S. Army. After his service, Roy’s main occupation was trucking. He started out working for Briggs Transportation in Cedar Rapids until owning and operating his own company, S&R Trucking, in Swisher, Iowa. On Oct. 14, 1961, Roy married Sharon Rose Greene in Saugus, Mass. The couple was blessed with two children. Upon Roy’s retirement in 2010, they moved to Belle Plaine, Iowa.
Roy enjoyed the outdoors, especially bass fishing. He had a great love for family and exemplified the ideal that actions speak louder than words.
He was a member of Cedar Rapids Bass Masters, earning fisherman of the year honors in 1976, and the Swisher American Legion, where he served as vice commander.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sharon; mother, Clara; children, Cheri (Tim) Schultz of Atkins and Warren (Angela) Rinderknecht of Indialantic, Fla.; brothers, Gary (Peg) of What Cheer and Frank (Gail) of Shellsburg; sister, Gloria Barker (Freddie) of Atkins; grandchildren, Angella (Josh) Arnold, Matthew Schultz and Samantha and Sabrina Rinderknecht; great-grandchildren, Colton, Chloe and Madelyn Arnold; and many more loving family and friends.
Roy was preceded in death by his father, Warren.
