The Vinton-Shellsburg High School cheerleaders spent several hours on Saturday washing cars to raise money for 16 new, all-weather uniforms.

Coach Krystal Anderson says the new uniforms will help the cheerleaders stay warm during the cool fall games, and also offer protection from rain. The total cost is around $3,000. The Viking-Vikette Athletic Booster Club has approved paying for half of the cost if the cheerleaders can raise the other half.

The cheerleaders raised $475, or nearly 1/3 of their fund-raising goal. Anderson said the team plans another fund-raiser in the near future. See more photos HERE.
