Senior Megan Hudson is leading Union in Kills and is the team’s second-leading server.

Led by seniors Megan Hudson(16 Kills) and Peyton Parker (31 of 32 in serve attempts) the Union volleyball team breezed past Vinton-Shellsburg in three sets (25-5, 25-6, 26-3) in the Class 3A Region 5 opener Wednesday in La Porte City.

Hudson is now fifth among all Iowa players with a total of 506 kills; Parker is fourth among all players in the state with 430 successful serves. The Knights are ranked No. 1 in Class 3A.

Peyton Parker is Union's leading server, and is 2nd in all of Iowa in total serves and 4th among all players in the state in successful serves.

The seniors hope to lead the Knights (35-4) to the State Tournament, where they last appeared in 2014. Last year, the team lost a heart-breaker to Center Point-Urbana in the Regional final, played in Vinton. They will host South Tama (3-26) next Tuesday. The winner of that match will play the Centerville/Eddyvillle-Blakesburg-Fremont winner on Halloween in Montezuma.  See the Union stat/score page HERE.
