Senior captain Britton Rolison set a Union school record with a 99-yard touchdown reception from QB Dylan Felderman and also caught a 50-yard TD pass and rushed for 30 yards and a touchdown in the Knight’s season-opening, 26-13 win over Dyersville Beckman.
The Knights held a 20-0 lead at the half, but gave up 13 points in the third quarter before stopping the Blazers at their own one yard line and scoring a late TD.
QB Felderman was 9 of 18 passing for 202 yards and no interception.
Coach Joe Hadachek offered this summary of Rolison’s accomplishments on Friday:
“Rolison was explosive as he set a new Union record with a pass from Dylan Felderman for 99 yards after a big defensive stop. He also had a 50 yd TD catch from Felderman. He was busy rushing the ball on five attempts for 30 yds with 15 coming on a reverse. Britt had one punt return for 18 yds. He was also the second leading tackler for the Knights behind Kyle Gross. Rolison is a captain for the 2018 squad.”
The third quarter struggles indicate a few things the team needs to work on, says Hadachek. “The middle part of the game was not our favorite part,” he said, giving his defense credit for standing strong late in the game.
