After Wednesday’s 11-3 win over Marion in the first game of a varsity softball double-header, the Vikettes gathered around coach Bari Parrott as they always do, listening as he shared lessons he hoped they would learn from the game.

Then, however, the players did something they never do between games; they lined up along the third base line, facing the crowd.

The coach looked at the spectacle and started to ask, “What are you doing?”

Then he looked around and realized the answer to his question.

Joined by several former Vikettes, including some who played on Parrott’s first VS teams, the Vikettes honored him for his success and longevity in high school coaching.

Last week, the Vikettes won Game 300 for Coach Parrott in his 15-year career. Wednesday’s win was No. 301. The players and coaching staff presented him a plaque commemmorating the 300-win milestone along with a softball signed by all of the team members.
