VSU swimmers competed in Williamsburg on Tuesday, and placed 2nd out of 5 teams (Tipton, Williamsburg, Fairfield & Oskaloosa).
VSU swimmers take 2nd at Williamsburt meet
“The girls swam very well, and this is always a fun meet to attend,” says Coach Ashley Hesson.
VSU came in first in the opening event (Medley Relay) but was disqualified on an exchange.
“It was disappointing because they had a great time, but DQ’ed on an exchange means they’re being aggressive and not lazy off the blocks. Sometimes they’re just a bit too eager to get going,” says the coach.
Geordyn Webster again put in what her coach called “monster performances” in the 50 and 100 Freestyle – winning both events and swimming her best time of the season in the 50. Emily Levis dropped over 7 seconds in her 200 Freestyle to win the event. She then went on to drop 7 seconds in her 500 Freestyle and placed 4th in that event. VSU went 1 and 2 in the 100 Backstroke with Arabella Shepard and Clarissa Carolan putting down some great times. Shepard also handily won the 100 Butterfly. Webster, Carolan, Shepard and Lexi Goodell put down some great relay times in the Medley and the 200 Freestyle Relay.
