Increase Your Grazing Knowledge and Skills with Short Course

Grassroots grazing workshops being held this summer and fallLivestock producers interested in strengthening or transitioning grazing practices can sharpen their skills by attending the upcoming Grassroots Grazing workshops. The series is offered by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach and the regional Natural Resources Conservation Service. The first series of classes, which will focus on soil health and plant identification, will be offered in several counties across northeast Iowa and will last from 4:30-8:30 p.

Governor Kim Reynolds makes stop at Ideal Industries

Last Thursday, Governor Kim Reynolds made a stop in Vinton to visit Ideal Industries. Ideal Industries is a metal fabricator that creates metal parts and assemblies for the food, pharmaceutical, agricultural, construction, mining, and industrial equipment industries. Ideal is a contract manufacturer of fabricated metal products, specializing in mild steel, stainless steel and aluminum.

Karrick finds her Niche in Downtown Vinton

Collen Karrick is now the official owner of the Niche On July 1, Colleen Karrick will mark her third anniversary managing the Niche. It will also mark her 1st month as the official owner of the business. Karrick found herself unceremoniously in need of a new job following the fire at Clingman Pharmacy a little more than four years ago. While working part-time at LaGrange Pharmacy, she has also been operating The Niche next door.

Sue Hart the new owner of Brickside welcomes you to make it your place for breakfast, coffee, a pastry, or lunch Seven months ago, Sue Hart was just walking by Brickside on her way to the pharmacy, when the shop caught her eye. Having worked in a tea room with her sister in Ottumwa, she thought, "I have GOT to check this out!" She said when she first walked in her mouth dropped open and she wanted to know "When did YOU get here???!" As they say, the rest is history.

Sorry for the late newsletter folks!We are all over the place this month with private events as well as town celebrations that are thankfully back in full force.On the 10th when we are in Atkins, the town will be buzzing as this is their "City Wide Garage Sale". Grab some pizza and search for treasures in this great town. The folks there are so nice! The very next morning (11th) we head north to Strawberry Point for "Strawberry Days".

This Saturday should be a beautiful day for taste and take event at 42° North Winery. This Saturday, May 14 the winery will be OPEN from 1-4:00 p.m. for our taste and take. The winery will have available, their petite Pearl which is a dry red at $18 a bottle. The $16 bottles are : Tatanka a dry red blend, Hootie a dry white, Dog Days which is a semi- sweet/off dry and Blowfish which is a semi sweet.
