Hawkeye Community College Announces 2023-2024 Business Consortium Workshop Serie

Hawkeye Community College has announced the next Business Consortium Workshop Series, focused on providing an intense concentration of knowledge in specific business topics to employees across all industries.The consortium consists of 11 different workshops, all focused on building business strength. Workshops run once a month from 8:30-11:00 a.m. and are led by business training professionals with years of field experience.

Wind portfolio increases production 25% over 2021 levels

More than 50% of the energy Alliant Energy’s Iowa utility provided to its customers in 2022 came from renewable energy generation. Alliant Energy, the third-largest owner-operator of regulated wind in the U.S., increased production by 25% from 2021 levels. This increase allowed its Iowa utility to provide a double-digit surge of renewable energy to its customers in 2022, boosting the percentage of renewable energy served to its retail electric customers to 52.

PROPERTY INSURANCE GETS INTERESTING IN IOWA

We are entering an unprecedented time in the insurance world unlike any we have seen before.  “Large reinsurance firms are pulling out of Iowa after a string of natural disasters, jeopardizing coverage for the state’s small-town farmers and residents,” Des Moines Register July 31.   RE-Insurance companies have gone from over 40 to less than 20 and have put stipulations in place to stay in business.

East-Central Iowa REC Meets with Grassley Legislative Correspondent

On Friday, August 11, East-Central Iowa Rural Electric Cooperative (ECI REC) had two special guests visit the office, Eli Harberts, a Legislative Correspondent in D.C. for Senator Grassley’s office, as well as the Director of Government Relations, Kevin Condon with the Iowa Association of Electric Cooperatives (IAEC), ECI REC’s statewide organization.
