Entertainment : May 7th - “Planes, Trains and Automobiles”...And a Piano, Too, at CP Museum

The Center Point Historical Society theme this year is "Time Travel: Planes, Trains and Automobiles." But the season opens on Sunday, May 7, with a birthday party for a piano. Warfield, the player piano, is 100 years old this year.

There will be cake and, of course, piano music, provided by Vicki Harger, longtime First Christian Church organist, and by Warfield himself pumped up by his friends, old and young.

Warfield was donated to the Museum by the Earl and Elva Lanning family of Green's Grove and was restored in 2013 with the help of a grant from Linn County Historic Preservation.

New museum displays this year include model airplanes and prints loaned by Marion historian David Wendell.

On Sunday, May 21, at 2 p.m. at the Museum, Wendell will give a free talk on "Lindbergh Landed Here."

On Sunday, June 4, Coggon farmer Harry Kintzle will be at the Museum visiting about his many years flying a plane--with maybe a mention of his old hobby of jumping out of one.

The Depot Museum is open-free-each Sunday, 2-5, from May 7 through October 29.
