Life can present unexpected challenges, and the University of Northern Iowa is committed to supporting students in achieving their educational goals. That's why UNI is thrilled to announce a special opportunity for students who have taken a break from pursuing their graduate degree.

As part of this commitment, UNI is waiving recency requirements for students looking to complete their graduate degree within the next 24 months. This initiative allows returning UNI graduate students to seamlessly pick up right where they left off in their academic journey, providing them with the flexibility they need to succeed.

In addition to the recency requirement waiver, UNI is pleased to introduce a $500 scholarship for returning students who enroll in one or more credits. This scholarship aims to alleviate some of the financial burdens associated with resuming higher education, demonstrating UNI's dedication to facilitating the return of graduate students to their academic pursuits.

"Our goal is to create a flexible, supportive environment for UNI students who wish to continue their work toward a master's or doctoral degree after a temporary break. We understand that life circumstances can change, and we want to make it as easy as possible for students to re-engage with their studies," said Stephanie Huffman, associate vice president for Strategic Initiatives and dean of the College of Graduate, Research and Online Education.

UNI's dedicated staff is ready to assist returning students in ensuring a smooth transition back into their studies. Whether students wish to continue in the same degree program or explore other academic interests, UNI's supportive community is here to help every step of the way.

"We want returning students to feel confident in their decision to resume their graduate program at UNI. Our team is committed to providing the guidance and resources necessary for a successful and fulfilling academic journey," added Huffman.
