2023-2024 Voyager Dance Clinic & Spring Show Performance Saturday, March 2nd,

The 2023-2024 Voyager Dance Clinic & Spring Show Performance will be held on Saturday, March 2nd, 2024, 8:00 am & 7:00 pm WHO: VS K-8th grade are welcome to attend! All participants will be separated into performance groups (K-2 nd, 3rd-5th, 6th-8th) and learn age-appropriate combinations. COST: $30.00 per child. This includes a clinic T-shirt and free admission to the Spring Show for the clinic participant.

Author Linda McCann to Speak at La Porte City Library

Iowa author Linda McCann will present a talk on her newly released book, Rosie the Riveters of Iowa, on Wednesday, January 17 at 2 PM at Hawkins Memorial Library, La Porte City. Rosie the Riveter was a promotional campaign to encourage women to go to work during World War II. Men had left jobs to fight in the war, and women were needed to fill those jobs.

Wesley United Methodist Church Food Pantry this Saturday

Wesley United Methodist Church will be holding its Food Pantry on Saturday, January 20, from 9-10:30 a.m. The church is located at 516 2nd Ave. (next door to the library) If you place a paper on your windshield the volunteers will deliver food to your cars this month. see photo.

“CHOCOLATE LOVE” VALENTINE’S PARTY AT CENTER POINT MUSEUM SATURDAY FEB. 10

The Center Point Historical Society is celebrating Valentine’s Day with a free-to-the-public chocolate festival party at the Depot Museum, 700 E. Washington St., from 1 to 4 p.m., Saturday, February 10. The “Chocolate Love” party will have a chocolate fountain, a unique kissing booth, assorted chocolate goodies, and a hot chocolate bar. The 2024 Historical Society theme is natural history.

Youth will canoe, camp, cook outdoors, and learn wilderness skills on this two-night, three-day excursion! Participants will paddle their way around winding bends, rapids, scenic waterfalls, cold springs, and 200-foot chimney bluffs.
