The Shellsburg Area Community Group's latest effort to bring an upgrade to the City Park was very successful. The goal was to replace the worn and unattractive picnic tables in the frequently used park pavilion. SACG's Parks Planning Committee undertook the task of researching, fund-raising, purchasing and assembling ten new tables. City officials gave approval for selecting tables made with recycled plastic. The tables are low maintenance and should serve the community for many years. SACG organized a sponsorship effort and families quickly stepped forward to sponsor a table. Each table contains a brass plaque recognizing the sponsor and two of the tables are ADA compliant.
Many thanks to Jim Hidinger, Chair of SACG's Park Planning committee for his leadership and to Christiana Schroder at the Compass Insurance office for taking and coordinating sponsorships. Thanks to City staff for using their equipment to bring the tables to the pavilion for assembly. And thanks to the SACG volunteers who came together on April 30th to assemble the tables!
Thank you to these folks for their donation to purchase a table!!
