Pearl (Nissen) Hagen, 86, passed away peacefully with her husband by her side at Windsor Manor in Vinton on Wednesday, February 17, 2021. Private family funeral services will be held at Phillips Funeral Home in Vinton with Rev. Lorna Anna Johanna (Lorenz) Rieck, 93, of Luzerne passed away peacefully at the Vinton Lutheran Home on February 17, 2021 after a brief illness. A celebration of Lorna’s life will be held at a later date. Lorna was born May 10, 1927 in Williamsburg, Iowa to Arnold & Emma (Huedepohl) Lorenz. She married the love of her life Martin (Matt) Rieck on October 1, 1950.

Hugh S. Fossum

Hugh S. Fossum, 74, of Goffstown, New Hampshire passed away February 7th in the comfort of his home after a long courageous battle with multiple myeloma. He was born November 20, 1946 in Cedar Falls, Iowa to Julia (Spickler) and Ernest Fossum. He graduated from Iowa State Teachers College High School in 1965 and later from the University of Northern Iowa.

Lenora Burry, 87, entered into the gates of heaven Saturday, February 13, 2021, at Ravenwood Specialty Care Center in Waterloo.Funeral services will be at noon on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Van Steenhuyse-Russell Funeral Home in Vinton with Pastor Matt Hantz officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home for an hour before services. Burial in the Garrison Cemetery.

Easton Richard Lindeman

Easton Richard Lindeman, at the age of 3, passed away on Monday, February 8, 2021 at University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital following a year-long battle with cancer. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.      Easton was born on August 16, 2017 son of Corey and Samantha (Yenser) Lindeman in Cedar Rapids IA.

Roger William Geater, 77, passed away at home under hospice care on Friday, February 12, 2021, following a long battle with Parkinson’s.Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 17, 2021, at Prairie Creek Church with Pastor Kurt Brubaker officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 16, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Van Steenhuyse-Russell Funeral Home, Vinton with a Masonic memorial ceremony being held at 7:00 p.

Jimmy Joe Kuhn, 34 of Mt. Auburn died very unexpectedly Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton.A final dispatch will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday February 20, 2021 at the Urbana Fire Department with visitation to follow until 4 p.m.  “Boobies” as he was known by his family was born February 27, 1986 to Renee (Bailey) Bobzien and Merle Kuhn.

Betty Ann (Fahnle) McKechnie

Betty Ann (Fahnle) McKechnie, 91, of Atkins, IA passed away peacefully in Cedar Rapids, IA on February 6, 2021. She endured Parkinson’s for years with grace and never a complaint.  Private family services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Walford, IA with Pastor Michelle Schultz presiding.  Interment will be at Cedar Memorial Park in Cedar Rapids.

Merle Francis Roths

Merle Francis Roths, 97, passed away peacefully Monday, February 8, 2021, at the Vinton Lutheran Home.Graveside services will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton at a later date.Merle was born January 8, 1924, in rural Ionia, Iowa, the son of Alfred M. and Caroline E. Arnhalt Roths. He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith in Ionia. He graduated from New Hampton High School in 1942.

Kathy Rae Walton

Kathy Rae Walton, 65, passed away unexpectedly, in her home, on Saturday, February 6, 2021. Kathy was born December 14, 1955 in San Diego, CA, the daughter of Raymond and Hazel (Becker) Walton.  She graduated from Benton Community High School with the class of 1973.  On January 6, 1997 she was united in marriage to Mike Cohrt in Cedar Rapids.
