Jeannette Annette Hendryx, 90, died peacefully Tuesday, November 27, 2018, at Virginia Gay Nursing and Rehab in Vinton. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 3, 2018, at the Mt. Auburn United Methodist Church with Rev. Annette Kruse officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Mt. Auburn Cemetery. Jeannette was born November 28, 1927, in Gorham, Maine, the daughter of Emery and Albertha Guimmond Labrecque. She was raised and attended school in Gorham. On August 4, 1951, Jeannette was united in marriage with Gerald Hendryx in Westbrook, Maine. The couple moved to Vinton in 1953. Gerald preceded her in death on March 20, 1997. Jeannette worked as a nurses’ aid at Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton for 20 years. She was a member of American Lutheran Church in La Porte City. She was also a 50+ year member of the Mt. Auburn American Legion Auxiliary. Jeannette had many interests, including quilting, painting, woodworking and carving and anything outdoors. Jeannette is survived by her children: Sylvia Roster of Vinton; Gail Pfiffner of La Porte City; Terri Higdon of Vinton; Steve (Patty) and Glenn (Bobbie) Hendryx, all of Mt. Auburn; and Wayne (Teri) Hendryx of Kellogg; one sister: Deloris Bailey of Maine; one brother, Roger Labrecque of Massachusetts; 18 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; 3 sisters; 4 brothers; a grandson and a great great granddaughter. The family will direct memorials to the Mt. Auburn Fire Department; the Mt. Auburn Legion; and the Mt. Auburn United Methodist Church. Van Steenhuyse-Russell Funeral Home is caring for Jeannette and her family. Condolences may be left at vsrfh.com.
