Louise V. Weeda, 87, of Belle Plaine, Iowa, passed away Dec. 17, 2023, at Rose Haven Nursing Home following a battle with cancer.

Louise was born on April 24, 1936, in Tingley, Iowa, to Ira and Mearl (Hancock) Weeda. Growing up on a farm near Tingley, she graduated from Tingley High School in 1954. In her youth, Louise accepted Christ as her Lord and was true to that choice until death. She worked in Dr. Baily’s office in Tingley as a receptionist until moving to Belle Plaine in 1964. She then worked in the office at Funk Bros. Seed Company for seven years until the office moved to Illinois. After which she was a legal assistant for Kollmorgen, Schlue & Zahradnik Law Firm for 44 years, retiring in 2015.

Louise enjoyed gardening and baking, sharing with her brother and nephews. She also helped with Weeda Auction Service and will be fondly remembered for her chocolate chip and raisin cookies she baked for Weeda Auction, family and friends. There was always caramel corn and candy on the holidays. She spent her life doing for others.

She is survived by her brother, Dale Weeda of Belle Plaine; nephews, Larry (Denise) Weeda of Belle Plaine, Lyle (Kary Moore) Weeda of Dysart, Lee Weeda of Belle Plaine, great-nephews, Luke (Jacquie) and family of Nevada, Iowa, Tyler (Megan) Weeda of Lincoln, Neb., Lance (Cailie) Weeda of Belle Plaine, Peyton, Parker, Jackson Weeda of Belle Plaine; great-great-nephew, Rogan Weeda of Lincoln, Neb.; Carter Moore and many cousins, relatives and friends.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents; sister-in-law, DeLana Weeda (2004); and great-niece, Tara Weeda (1993).

Funeral Service is 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, 2023, at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service, Belle Plaine, with Pastors Mary Weeda, Kara Plesek and Kyle Bredesky officiating. Burial will take place at Rector Cemetery, Chelsea, Iowa.
