National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is Saturday, October 28th. In Vinton, there are two locations where drugs can be disposed. Drugs cn be dropped off at the Benton County Sheriffs Department or at the HyVee Pharmacy.

Clean out those medicine cabinets and any other places you store your medications.

Items that are accepted include:

Items that are not accepted:

Syringes, inhalers, and aerosols

How to package items:

Remove medications from their original containers. Place them into clear, sealed plastic bags, and recycle the original container. If not possible, leave the medications sealed in their original containers. All liquids should be in a tightly sealed, secure container. Those containers should be in sealed, clear plastic bags. Contact your local Take Back host site for more information on accepted items.

Saturday's National Prescription Drug Take Back events will operate from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. at designated sites across Iowa. As part of the national Prescription Drug Take Back program, the DEA also allows the collection of vaping devices and e-cigarettes from individuals, if batteries are first removed from the devices.
