Richard Arnold

Richard Arnold, 79, of Grants Pass, Oregon passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at his home. Richard was born February 3, 1946, in Vinton, Iowa to Arthur Bilton and Mary Wilson. Richard and his sister Mary were adopted and raised in Walker, Iowa, by Herbert and Norma Arnold. Richard left home while attending school in Walker. For a while he lived with the Leary family of Walker and later the Miller family of Walker.

Carsyn Sidni Peters

Carsyn Sidni Peters, 21, of Waterloo, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 29, 2025.Carsyn was born on May 23, 2004, in Waterloo, to Chad and Carrie (Plum) Peters. She graduated from Benton Community High in 2022.Carsyn's love for the arts shined brightly through her passion for drawing and photography-she loved to take photos of nature and appreciated the beauty in her surroundings.

Brenda J. Toney

Brenda J. Toney, 68, of Newhall, IA passed away after a long illness on July 6, 2025 at her home.Brenda was born on April 10, 1957 in Marengo, IA, the daughter of Margaret (Gunderson) and Cleo Toney. She was a hard-working café owner with her long-time friend Clark Johnston. Brenda took pride in providing great food and throwing lavish birthday and fourth of July parties for friends and family to come together.

Brenda Kotouc

Brenda Kotouc, 74, of Pea Ridge, Arkansas, passed away after a long cancer journey, Tuesday, May 27, 2025. She was born in Vinton, Iowa in 1951 to Ralph and Clarice (Karr) Lilja. While she lived many years in Arkansas, her heart was always at “home” in Vinton. She had a happy childhood and many fond memories of so many friends and classmates, as well as family.

Ricky “Rick” Lee Allnutt

Ricky “Rick” Lee Allnutt, 69 of Victor, IA passed away following a long illness, at home surrounded by family.Rick the son of Jesse and Jane (Sears) Allnutt, grew up in Blairstown, IA graduating from Benton Community High School the class of 1974. July 8, 1978 Rick married Diana Heitman to this union they had two children, they later divorced. He began his career in manufacturing, by 1989 he moved with his family to Springfield, Mo where he continued working in manufacturing.

Rosemaree Iola (Tharp) Williams

Rosemaree Iola (Tharp) Williams, age 95, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 7, 2025 at Virginia Gay Nursing and Rehab in Vinton.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, July 18th, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Vinton with Rev. Stephen Preus officiating.  Private interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton.  Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until 10:45 AM, Friday, also at the church.

Roger William Haerther, 87, died Monday, July 7, 2025, at the Virginia Gay Nursing and Rehab in Vinton.Funeral Services will be 10:30 AM Monday, July 14, 2025, at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Atkins, with the Rev. Douglas Woltemath officiating. Interment will be held at St. Stephen's Cemetery, Atkins. Friends may call at the St. Stephen's Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall in Atkins from 2:00 until 5:00 p.

Barbara Ann Gulick Holden

Barbara Ann Gulick Holden passed peacefully on July 7, 2025.  Barbara Ann Gulick was born on April 11, 1952, in Vinton, Iowa.  She grew up on the farm near Garrison before graduating from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Music Education degree and Coe College with an Accounting degree.  Barbara taught at Iowa Mennonite High School, HLV, Center Point, and Cedar Rapids schools before completing a 35-year career at Rockwell Collins.

Dixie Lou Wayson

Surrounded by her loving family, Dixie Lou Wayson, 91, passed away Monday, July 7, 2025, at the Vinton Lutheran Home. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 12, at the Presbyterian Church of Vinton, with Pastor Hans Poetschner officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, at the church. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton.

Karla Jean Bascom, 66, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Newhall, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, July 4, 2025. Funeral services will be held at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Newhall at 10:30 AM, Friday, July 11, 2025, with Rev. Nick Palmer officiating.  Friends and family may visit with the family before the service from 9:30 until 10:15 AM, also at the church.
