Knights dominate in homecoming victory over Roland Story 44-8

Union Community inducted the 3A State Championship football team into the school's hall of fame and the football team performance was nothing short of dominating. Roland Story struggled due to Union's stingy defense and had zero first downs at halftime and only three in the entire game.

Union leads into final game for 2A District 7

Union heads into final game for 2A District 7 championship on the road at highly ranked West Marshall. Union defeated Nevada on Senior Night 23-20 as Nevada scored late on a hitch and pitch play to close the game to one score with less than one minute left in the fourth quarter. The Knights were led on offensive by senior captain Kaleb Roach and junior Brayden Grosse.

VSU Conference Swim Meet Saturday

Results from the North Central Iowa Swim Conference Meet in Grinnell are attached - photos to come later today. VSU did well - placing 4th among 7 strong teams. Many girls had their best times of the season or very close to it. Arabella Shepard had a great day - winning both her individual events of the 100 Butterfly and 100 Backstroke (events she has qualified to swim at State on Nov 2).

LAUREN UPMEYER WINS TWO GOLD MEDALS AT IOWA GAMES

Lauren Upmeyer had a great day at the Iowa Games at Iowa State University. A few months after advancing to the State Track Meet in shot put during the high school track season, Lauren, the daughter of Eric and Patty Upmeyer, earned a Gold Medal in the shot put, winning first with a throw of 35’4 1/2.

Roland Story struggled due to Union's stingy defense and had zero first downs at halftime and only three in the entire game.    While offensively, Union's ground game of Kaleb Roach, Britton Rolison, and Brayden Grosse gashed Roland Story's defense time and time again.

VSU places 2nd at Grinnell

A solid night for VSU as we traveled to Grinnell last night. VSU was 2nd of 4 teams - losing to Boone by only 12 points (they scored 29 points as they were uncontested in the diving competition). All but one of our girls swam as many events as they possibly could, and every one of them scored points for the team.

[caption id="attachment_24243" align="alignleft" width="300"] Britt Rolison was one of many Union Knights who came up with big plays on offense or defense during Friday's 34-6 win over Benton.[/caption] Union improved to 3-2 on the season with a big win over previously unbeaten Benton, 34-6. Big plays including an interception returned for a TD by Britt Rolison, as well as several long runs, led to Knight scores.
