1. Competition is open to Benton County students in Kindergarten through the 12th grade. Students should submit their entries to the Benton Soil & Water Conservation District office at 1705 W Dst, Vinton IA. There are five Divisions --

Division 1 - Grades K and 1
Division 2 - Grades 2 and 3
Division 3 - Grades 4 through 6
Division 4 - Grades 7 through 9
Division 5 - Grades 10 through 12

2. The theme for the 2024 contest is "May The Forest Be With Youl". Posters should reflect this theme and must have it on the poster.

3. Posters must be made on regular poster paper. Poster may be 8 ½ x 11 inches minimum and 22 x 28 inches maximum. Any media may be used to create a flat effect. No three-dimensional effects are allowed.

4. Each poster must have a completed entry form attached to the back and should remain flat when submitted for judging.

5. Posters may be done in any medium such as paint, pencil, pen and ink, cut and paste, marker, crayon or whatever inspires the student. Each poster will be created and constructed by the competing student.

6. Entries must be turned in to the Benton County Soil & Water Conservation District, 1705 West D Street, Vinton, IA 52349 by April 25, 2024.

7. Judging will be based on the following criteria: Conservation Message (50%), Visual Effectiveness (30%), Originality (10%) and Universal Appeal (10%).

8. Cash Prizes at the District Level for Benton County will be $20 for First Place in each of the five Divisions.

9. The winning poster in each Division from this District Contest will advance to Regional and/or State Competition where prizes are $200 first place, $150 second place, and $100 third place.
