Susan C. Walker, 56, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2024, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a brief illness. Memorial services will be 1:30 p.m., Saturday, April 13, at Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home, Vinton, with Chaplain Brian Reeves officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.Susan was born November 13, 1967, the daughter of Donald and Shirley (Anderson) Walker.

Linda Kay (Van Nevel) Roggentien

Linda Kay (Van Nevel) Roggentien, 73, of Belle Plaine, IA passed away Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Unity Point Saint Lukes Hospital, Cedar Rapids.Linda was born in Belle Plaine, the daughter of Andrew and Marcella (Wentland) Van Nevel. She graduated from Belle Plaine High School the class of 1969. Following school, she worked various jobs until becoming a house wife and caring for her children.

Mary Ann Van Hamme, 91, of Belle Plaine, IA passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at Belle Plaine Care Center, Belle Plaine.Mary was born March 7, 1933, in rural Chelsea, Iowa to Bernard and Anna (Iezek) Bennett. She attended rural country school. April 26, 1951 Mary married Maurice Van Hamme at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Chelsea. Together they moved to Anchorage, AK while Maurice served in the United States Army.

Roger A. Bahr, 85, of Walker, IA, died at home Tuesday, April 2, 2024.Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 6, 2024, at the First Presbyterian Church in Independence, IA. Burial will follow at Freemont Cemetery in Tripoli, IA.Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., Friday, April 5, at White Funeral Home, Independence, and will continue for an hour before services Saturday at the church.

Charles Lee Davis

Charles Lee Davis, 87, of Shellsburg, Iowa, passed away on Friday, March 29, 2024 at the Hemphill Hospice Unit at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, due to Alzheimer’s disease.Charles was born on December 27, 1936 to Howard and Lois (Boege) Davis in Clemons, Iowa, the second of seven children. After graduating from Grundy Center High School in 1955, he joined the United States Air Force in 1956 and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan for 2 years.

 Lorena Fern Karr, 96, died Thursday, March 28, 2024 at Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton.Lorena was born on July 30, 1927, on the family farm west of Shellsburg to Everett and Erma (Van Fossen) Cress.  She married Ralph Edgar Karr on July 19, 1952.Lorena, a.k.a. Fern a.k.a. Granny, enjoyed flowers, bird watching, playing cards, and word searches.

Stephen Preus officiating. Richard was born on September 17, 1940, in Vinton, the son of Richard C. and Beatrice (Criswell) Bednar.

Joyce Elaine Andorf

Joyce Elaine Andorf, 88, Dysart, died Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at UnityPoint Allen Hospital, Waterloo. Joyce was born February 17, 1936 in Garrison to the late Christian and Marcella (Burkey) Grimm of Waterloo, Iowa.  She married LeRoy Andorf on December 30, 1956 in Dysart.  They lived in Wheaton, Illinois for 26 years before returning to Dysart to live, when LeRoy retired in 1990.

Evelyn Lucille Edaburn Engledow Mather

Evelyn Lucille Edaburn Engledow Mather of rural Vinton passed away peacefully on March 19, 2024 at her home just days following her 101st birthday.Evelyn was born March 15th, 1923 to John "Burl" Edaburn and Helen (Lunger) Edaburn.Samuel Hendricks Roy Mather and Evelyn were joined in marriage on August 1, 1949 after Evelyn’s first husband Raymond Engledow KIA while serving in WWII.
