Marcus C. “Marc” Merchant
Marcus C. “Marc” Merchant, 59, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha, with his family by his side.A Celebration of Marc’s Life will be held from 1:00 until 5:00 PM, Friday, January 24, 2025, at the Vinton Skating Rink. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for distribution to several of Marc’s favorite charities.
James “Jimmy” Womack
James was born June 16, 1963 to Pat Womack and Shirley Berry in Harvey, IL. After graduating high school Jimmy left Illinois and went to Huntland, Tennessee where he began to work as a concrete finisher with his dad. Jimmy moved to South Florida for a few years before returning with his family to Huntland. In April 1992, Jimmy married Gayle Womack; they were blessed with two daughters before going their separate ways.
Tyler Jacobson
Tyler Jacobson, 32, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2025. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel (212 E. 6th Street) in Vinton at 1:00 PM. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 also at the Phillips Funeral Home Chapel from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Luncheon will be held at the Urbana Legion following the service.
William “Bill" Dean Grieder
William “Bill" Dean Grieder, 85, of Belle Plaine, IA passed peacefully to Jesus his Savior, surrounded by his family January 20, 2025. Bill passed from complications of Parkinson's Disease.Services will be held at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service in Belle Plaine Friday, January 24, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. Join the family as we celebrate the life of Bill with an Open House at the Belle Plaine Country Club until 4:00.
Jack F. Mann
Jack F. Mann, 88, of Belle Plaine, IA passed away January 18, 2025, at Birkwood Village, Toledo, IA. Praise the Lord, he is fully restored!Jack was born June 22, 1936, to Vernon and Faye (Bilyeu) Mann in rural Shelby County, MO. He graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1954. Jack met Sandy Barnett, the love of his life while continuing his education at Northeast Missouri State Teachers College.

Lorraine Joanne Lemay, 89, peacefully made her heavenly journey on Monday, January 20, 2025, at the Vinton Lutheran Home, surrounded by her loving family.Lorraine was born February 12, 1935, in Lewiston, ME, the daughter of Florian and Albia Pare’. Lorraine found much joy in her doll collection, cooking for family get togethers at our childhood home, crocheting, knitting,felting, and sharing her vast knowledge with her children.
Phyllis Jean Millard Mischke
Phyllis Jean Millard Mischke, daughter of James and Mary (Morlan) Millard was born in Jefferson, Iowa on October 16, 1945. She passed away at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa on January 16, 2025 at the age of 79 years.Phyllis grew up in Jefferson, Iowa. On November 13, 1965 she was united in marriage to Charlie Mischke.

Ruth Primrose, 78, of Shellsburg, died Saturday, January 18, 2025, at the Corridor Crossing Place in Cedar Rapids. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 25, 2025, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Vinton, with Father Jim Brokman as Celebrant. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the church, on Friday, January 24.

James “Jim” Francis Evans, 73, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, formerly of Shellsburg, Iowa, passed away due to complications from Alzheimer’s Disease on Friday, January 17, 2025, at St. Luke’s Hospice in Cedar Rapids. A visitation will be held from 2 - 4 p.m. on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids.
