News : Memorial Day schedule for Vinton Today

Because of Memorial Day, there will be no email on Monday. Of course, there will probably still be a few posts that go up over the weekend. So feel free to take a gander through the website and see what you may have missed!

But most of all, take time to remember our fallen veterans this weekend. Make a trip to your local veteran's organization for their services, take the kids to the cemetery to visit the graves of loved ones that you've lost.

Memorial Day Schedule

8-10:30 a.m.

Coffee and Rolls served from 7:30-10:30 a.m. at the Township Hall (Bear Creek Church)We will be taking a free will donation to help raise money to paint and replace the roof of the church.All reactions:557LikeCommentShare

Bear Creek Church will hold its open house from 8-10:30 a.m.

9:00 a.m.

Bear Creek Cemetery will hold the annual Memorial Day service.

10:00 a.m.

The George G. Luckey American Legion Post in Vinton will hold a Memorial Day service at 10:00 a.m. at the legion. Pastor Brian Channel of the United Methodist Church will be speaking.

11:00 a.m.

Taps will be played at the Mt. Auburn Cemetery in observation of Memorial Day, but there will be no service.

11:30 a.m.

At 11:30 a wreath will be lowered into the Cedar River from the bridge, in honor of those buried at sea. The best place to watch this event will be from behind the Vinton Fire Station.

11:00 a. m.

The Shellsburg Legion will hold a Memorial Day service at 11:00 a.m., dedicating a new flag at the cemetery entrance and will meet back at the Legion for snacks following the ceremony.
