Funeral services will be held at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Newhall at 11:00 AM, Friday, May 30, 2025, with Rev. Nick Palmer and Rev. Stephen Rempfer officiating. Leona Anna Marie Danker was born March 25, 1933, in Van Horne, Iowa, the daughter of Hans and Lena (Hessenius) Petersen. She graduated from Van Horne High School in 1951. Leona was united in marriage to John H. Danker on November 27, 1955, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Newhall, Iowa. She worked as a bookkeeper for Joyce Lumber in Van Horne and Vinton, Marengo Jaycee Theater, Marengo Elevator for 16 years, Farm and Home and retired from the Marengo Bank after 20 years.
Wanda Rae Sandhagen, 80, of Atkins, Iowa, passed away surrounded by family, on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. She was born on October 22, 1944, in Oelwein, the daughter of Robert and Gladys (Lamphere) Sargent. Wanda was raised in the Strawberry Point area and attended the Strawberry PointSchools.On July 21, 1962, Wanda was united in marriage to Bruce Sandhagen in Guttenberg.
The Northeast Iowa community mourns the loss of Dave Duncklee, 84, who passed away peacefully in a Florida hospital following a significant brain bleed. His high school sweetheart, Cheryl, was by his side for 62 years. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 7th from 11 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. a the Waukon Middle School cafeteria. This will be an informal gathering for friends, family, former students, and colleagues can come together to share memories and honor Dave's life.

Arlene Carls (nee Lillian Arlene Tornberg), 96, of Vinton, Iowa, passed away peacefully, on Monday, May 5, 2025, at the Vinton Lutheran Home.Arlene was born July 27, 1928, in Beresford, SD, the daughter of Oscar and Lillian (Chadwick) Tornberg. She was baptized and confirmed at Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Arlene was a talented student and graduated as High School valedictorian.
