James Darren “Jimâ€� Duncalf, 58, of Van Horne, IA passed away May 22, 2026, at his home following a courageous and faithful battle with pancreatic cancer.

Jim was born March 1, 1968, to Donald and Marilyn (Scheel) Duncalf in Cedar Rapids, IA. Jim grew up on the family farm in Keystone, IA. He started raising hogs at a young age and farmed alongside his dad up until his health declined.  

Jim was a 1986 graduate of Benton Community. Jim met Dianna “Lindyâ€� Grieder in 1985, and the couple married in 1993 in Maui, Hawaii. In 1996, they built a home on the family farm outside Van Horne, IA. Together, they had two daughters, Lauren and Nicole “Coleyâ€�, whom he adored. He was so proud of their accomplishments.  

Jim and Lindy owned and operated the Shellsburg Quick Stop together for 20 years. Jim loved farming and snowmobiling, and some of his fondest memories were the many summers spent camping with family and friends.  

Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Lindy, of Van Horne, IA; his daughters, Lauren and Coley, both of Cedar Rapids, IA; his parents, Donald and Marilyn Duncalf, of Van Horne, IA; his sister, Angie (Mike) Cline, of Cedar Rapids, IA; his mother-in-law, Katy Grieder, of Keystone, IA; his brothers-in-law, Denny (Mari) Grieder, of Belle Plaine, IA, and Dale “Beavâ€� (Georgia) Grieder, of Ankeny, IA; his sisters-in-law, Denise (David) Selken, of Keystone, IA, and Deanna (Steve) Becker, of Blairstown, IA; as well as many nieces and nephews.  

Jim was preceded in death by his grandparents, Delbert, Agnes, and Rozella Duncalf and Ray and Phyllis Scheel; and his father-in-law, Bill Grieder.  

Memorials may be made to the Jim Duncalf Memorial and will be used to support various Van Horne community organizations.
