Duane Robert Konicek

Duane Robert Konicek, 89 of Belle Plaine, IA passed away at Rose Haven Nursing Home, Marengo, Wednesday, November 13, 2024. Duane was born August 14, 1935 in Clutier, IA the son of John R. and Rose (Stahr) Konicek. He grew up in Elberon before moving with his family to Belle Plaine, where graduated from Belle Plaine High School. Following school, he was drafted into the United States Army, which he served during the Korean Conflict.

Taylor Jo Randall

Taylor Jo Randall passed away November 8th of 2024 surrounded by family and friends in Fort Collins, Colorado. For 30 years Taylor Jo blessed this earth. While her time was all too short, her memory and spirit will carry on by those who loved her forever. Kathleen “Kathy” Ann Wood

Following a short illness, Kathleen “Kathy” Ann Wood, 76, of Vinton, passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at University of Iowa Health Care, Iowa City.  Private services will be held.  Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home is caring for Kathy and her family.Kathy was born February 14, 1948, in Walker, the daughter of Gerald and Erna (Wutzke) Wood.

Robin Eugene Powers

Born on January 1, 1950, in Vinton, Iowa, as the first New Year's baby, Robin Eugene Powers passed away on November 5, 2024, in Marshalltown, Iowa. He was the son of Eugene Leonard and Ima Jean Powers.Raised in Vinton, Robin attended the Vinton Community School System. After high school, he proudly served in the US Army, achieving the rank of Sergeant and earning the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal.

Tony J. Carr

Tony J. Carr, 67, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday morning, November 10, 2024, after a ten-year battle with cancer.Tony J. Carr was born on July 10, 1957, Cheyenne, Wyoming, to Jerry "The Ole Cherokee" and Billie Jane (Bocklett) Carr. He grew up in Cedar Rapids and after receiving his high school diploma attended Kirkwood Community College where earned an Associates of Applied Science degree in Water and Wastewater Management.

Joseph "Papi Joe" Edward Blaha

Joseph "Papi Joe" Edward Blaha, Jr., born September 23, 1957, died November 9, 2024, at 67 years old from a short battle with cancer. Joe is survived by his daughter Deidra McVay, granddaughter Shyanne Wiegel, and great-grandchildren Sutton and Frederick Wiegel. He is also survived by 3 brothers and 4 sisters: Jerry Day, Ellen Day, John "Tim" Blaha, Terri Taylor, Grant Blaha, Lolita "Linn" Blaha, and Connie Raines; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Helen Marie Schirm

Helen Marie Schirm, 91, of St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2024, six weeks after the passing of her beloved husband of 74 years, Dean. Their bond was one of deep love and mutual respect, a partnership that weathered time and change with grace and warmth.Born on December 17, 1932, in the close-knit town of Shellsburg, Iowa, Helen grew up with a deep sense of family and community.

Dale Speidel, 102, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at the Vinton Lutheran Home.  Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home with Pastor Brian Channel officiating.  Friends may visit with the family before the service from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home on Saturday.
