Kimberly “Kim” Junge

Kimberly “Kim” Junge 9/19/1960 – 5/20/2025 One of the advantages—maybe the only one—of a terminal diagnosis is that you can write your own obituary, and that’s what I’ve done. Not to suggest that my family wouldn’t have raved about the phenomenal person I was… I’m just not taking any chances.My story begins on September 19, 1960, when I was born to two of the most wonderful people in the world: Alfred Kajer and Marlene Crabtree.

Leona Anna Marie Danker

Leona Anna Marie Danker was born March 25, 1933, in Van Horne, Iowa, the daughter of Hans and Lena (Hessenius) Petersen. She graduated from Van Horne High School in 1951. Leona was united in marriage to John H. Danker on November 27, 1955, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Newhall, Iowa. She worked as a bookkeeper for Joyce Lumber in Van Horne and Vinton, Marengo Jaycee Theater, Marengo Elevator for 16 years, Farm and Home and retired from the Marengo Bank after 20 years.

Darcy Jane (Moran) McMains

Darcy Jane (Moran) McMains, 53, of Elberon, IA passed away May 18, 2025, surrounded by family, at her home in Elberon, IA after a courageous battle with cancer.Darcy was born February 15, 1972, to John and Martha (Mullins) Moran in Cedar Rapids, IA. She graduated from Benton Community, Class of 1990.Darcy cared for people working in healthcare her entire career; most recently at Compass Memorial Hospital, which she truly enjoyed.

Joyce Irene (Fennern) Gahring

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Joyce Irene (Fennern) Gahring, age 84, on Sunday, May 18th, 2025.Per Joyce's request, there are no funeral services planned.Joyce was born on May 3, 1941, in Cedar Rapids, to Waldo "Buster" and B. Lucille (Joyce) Long.  On August 23, 1986 she was united in marriage to Larry Gahring in Cedar Rapids.

Sandra (Sandy) McGrath

Sandra (Sandy) McGrath was born a beautiful, eastern Iowan hard worker as Sandra Lee Etten on July 28, 1949, at John McDonald Hospital in Monticello, Iowa. The daughter of Marvin and Betty (Brignac) Etten. Soon after Sandy's arrival Marv and Betty began building a new house in Fairfax, Iowa. As a new family, they lived in the basement of the house as it was built above and around them.

Mahlon "Duane" Christian

Mahlon "Duane" Christian, 84, from Vinton, formerly of Dysart, died on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at his home.He was born February 4, 1941, in La Porte City, the son of Francis and Burnetta Christian.Growing up on the family farm outside of La Porte City he was very busy helping on the farm and active in high school sports.On August 28th, 1959, he married the love of his life Dixie Glasener, also from La Porte City.

Ed J. Blindt Sr.

Ed J. Blindt Sr., 99, of The Birkwood Village formerly of West Point, passed away at 12:34 p.m.  Saturday May 17, 2025 at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.He was born January 20, 1926 in Fort Madison, Iowa, the son of Harry and Ida (Krittenbrink) Blindt. On December 27, 1947 he married Vera Jane Martin. She preceded him in death November 2, 1992.

Laurie Greenfield

Laurie Greenfield, 64, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 15, 2025, surrounded by family and love.She was born on Dec. 13, 1960, in Washington, Iowa. Laurie's life took her to many places over the years, each one becoming a part of her story. Though she called many places home, it was in Urbana, Iowa that she and Larry settled and built a life filled with love, faith, and family.

Keith Eric Kankelfitz

Keith Eric Kankelfitz, age 62, passed away at this home in Atkins, IA, on Sunday, May 18, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.A private family service will be held later.Keith was born on January 16, 1963, in Lincoln, NE. He is the son of Elda (Doehling) and the late Roland Riese. On November 3, 1990, Keith married the love of his life, Kim Dresselhaus in Newhall, IA.

Mary Ann Voelker

Mary Ann Voelker, 84, of Norway, IA passed away May 18, 2025 at Colonial Manor, Amana, IA. Mary Ann was born October 17, 1940 to William and Monica (Mangerich) Rettig at Finley Hospital, Dubuque, IA. She graduated High School in Manchester, class of 1958. Following school, she worked in Manchester for a doctor’s office. Moving to Norway in 1974, Mary Ann was blessed to raise her children before going to work at South Slope in customer service for 30 years.
