With the closing of the Alco store in Vinton, Anna Tapia said she wanted to offer an option for affordable clothing.
When she saw the store near the corner of Fourth Street and First Avenue, she knew she had found the perfect place to offer that option to area familes.
Kidz Zone Consignment opened last Wednesday, as Tapia began offering used clothing for children of all ages, along with toys and other kids' items.
She is also accepting consignments for clothing, toys and all other children's items, except for car seats and cribs.
"We are especially interested in fall items," said Tapia, who says her goal is to offer a variety of quality, upscale clothing for all children from birth to teens. While other consignment stores have come and gone, Tapia said she believes a store that can do that can succeed.
The interest in affordable clothing became apparent on the day that she opened. People who had seen her signs in the former "Creartivity" store windows were already parked outside, waiting for her to arrive.
