Vinton has been blessed with several food trucks that pop up during the week. But keeping the schedules straight seems a bit confusing at times. If I forgot anyone else, let me know!

Thursday Night

Beast and Bird 5-8:30 p.m.

Logan Merchant, the owner, got into the business because, "I've always enjoyed cooking, and the last few years I've really become passionate about it! I especially love serving food to the people." You can find Beast and Bird in the parking lot of Tactical Creations on Thursday evenings from 5-8:30 p.m. Merchant plans to be adding more dates and locations as he goes forward, so he said, "the best bet to know where the trailer will be is to follow my FB page," which can be found if you click on the Beast and Bird headline above. There is also a current menu in the pictures.

Friday Night

Smoken' on the Cedar

Vinton's very first food truck owners Brett and Dawnette Richards kicked off their business, Smoken' on the Cedar in June of 2008, just in time for the annual Party in the Park in Vinton. It was a novel idea at the time and has continued to be a hit with the community since the beginning.

Smoken' on the Cedar hit a bit of a bump this year when Brett was hospitalized for nearly a couple of months. While Brett is still on the mend, he's getting stronger and plans to pick up where they left off. Catering has always been part of their business. They do weddings, graduation parties and private events and plan to be at Boomtown and Party in the Park in a few weeks.

The menu includes Dawnette's delicious pies, awesome sides, and did I mention pies, oh wait, I did!

Their choices of meat include: pulled pork, pulled beef, whole boneless turkey and pork loin back ribs. You can order these by the pound and number of ribs!

Kacena Farms

I know if I don't mention Kacena's someone will ask. Deb said that they have too much on their plate right now. They are busy with their new event barn and catering special events. In their spare time they are planting pumpkins and squash, and Christmas trees, and trimming the trees in preparation for the Christmas season.

She said to watch for them in July around lunchtime next to US Cellular. Click on the name above to find their Facebook page.
