Funding will support Early Childhood programming in Benton, Black Hawk, and Tama Counties
Lutheran Services in Iowa (LSI) received $10,000 from the Guernsey Charitable Foundation to support Early Childhood programming in Benton, Black Hawk, and Tama Counties. Programming in the areas currently includes Health Families America HOPES.
Healthy Families America-HOPES programs provide evidence-based, in-home prevention services to at-risk parents of children prenatally through age 5. The programs work to reduce abuse and promote healthy, safe, and self-sufficient families. Services are offered voluntarily, intensively, and over the long term (3-5 years following the birth of a baby) depending on the program.
"Thank you to the Guernsey Charitable Foundation for this generous support. The overall goal of the Healthy Families America-HOPES programs is to decrease abuse and promote family self-sufficiency and stability, leading to a happier, healthier Iowa," said Amanda McKee, LSI's Director of Early Childhood Services.
LSI is one of Iowa's largest human services agencies and impacts thousands of Iowans
annually through child abuse prevention, services for families and youth in crisis, services for
people with disabilities, and immigrant and refugee services. LSI is nationally accredited and
proudly serves people of all ages, abilities, religions, sexes, gender identities, national origins,
ethnicities, races, and sexual orientations. To learn more, visit LSIowa.org. Join us on
