Event will focus on creating and maintaining safe workplaces
Kirkwood Community College will hold the annual Kirkwood Safety Conference on Thursday, March 27, at The Hotel at Kirkwood Center in Cedar Rapids. The event will feature three keynote speakers that will address how to navigate the various aspects of creating and maintaining safe workplaces.
This one-day conference is designed to bring together safety professionals for a day of learning, networking and professional development. It will feature a variety of breakout sessions with speakers from different industries who will address numerous workplace safety topics including mental health, technology and OSHA-related issues, among many others. In addition, a vendor expo featuring the latest products and services in health and safety will also be available to conference attendees.
The event will feature three keynote speakers including:
- Cody Byrns, best-selling author and life coach, who will share his personal experience of how his life suddenly changed while he was stopped at a red light and rear-ended; he was severely burned and almost left for dead.
- Dr. Ken Wagner, founder of Daylight Advisory, who will discuss practical strategies for building an organizational culture of safety excellence.
- Brad Puck, a construction industry veteran, who will explain how he learned the soft skills needed to function in the workplace and the hard lessons learning the difference between a leader and boss.
The Kirkwood Safety Conference fulfills professional continuing education requirements (CEUs). Participants must request CEU credit upon enrollment. Conference fees include lunch and access to the vendor expo.
