Iowa State University Extension and Outreach’s Urban Agriculture program invites farmers and community members to attend an Urban Agriculture Public Forum focused on municipal regulations on Friday, September 26, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Waterloo Boat House.
Representatives from the City of Waterloo's Planning and Zoning Department, along with ISU Extension and Outreach, will provide education on the urban agriculture provisions in the Waterloo Zoning Ordinance. They will also explain the planning and zoning processes, encouraging local citizens and urban agriculture producers to engage in discussion, ask questions and provide feedback.
In addition, ISU Extension and Outreach will take comments and feedback about developing an online training tool regarding municipal regulation of urban agriculture.
“Increasing public understanding of urban farming regulations is a goal of the Iowa State University Urban Agriculture Project,” said Graham Sandersfeld, urban agriculture outreach specialist with ISU Extension and Outreach. “Participants will have the unique opportunity for open discussions and networking with representatives from the City of Waterloo and ISU Extension and Outreach staff.”
The forum will provide a complimentary lunch for attendees who register online.
