Our Lutheran Home Community is strong because of the generations who continue to care for each other. This year we will celebrate N
ational Assisted Living Week from Sept. 11-17, 2011 and paying tribute to the older adults we serve as well as the younger generations who will follow in their footsteps. In particular, we celebrate the intergenerational connections that happen every day at the Lutheran Home Communities. To celebrate
ational Assisted Living Week, the Lutheran Home Assisted Living has planned special events for the staff and residents:

-Sunday- National Assisted Living Week begins with a Chapel Service in the Lutheran Home Chapel with Rev. Clarke Frederick, on Sunday afternoon we will play Bingo at 2:00pm.

-Monday- The Lutheran Home Auxiliary will be hosting a Hat Day party at
1:00pm and will be providing refreshments.

-Tuesday- We will be taking a lunch trip to Youngville Café on Highway 30, Movie night will start at 6:30pm.

-Wednesday- Rev. Urlaub will lead weekly Bible Class in the Chapel at
10:30am. Lunch will be ordered in from Leon’s Malt Shop and Manicures will take place at 1:00pm, one of the favorite activities of the Assisted Living Tenants.

-Thursday- Staff will be providing the meal for a National Assisted Living
Week Potluck with plenty of homemade dishes to enjoy. Card Club will take place at 6:30pm.

-Friday- A shopping trip and lunch outing to the destination of our Tenants choice, Ice Cream Sundaes will be served at 2:00pm to wrap up the week. Along with daily activities, we will be preparing for our annual Ice Cream Social that will be held from 2:00-5:00pm on Sunday September 18th. There will be entertainment, homemade pie, a game area, grab bag & donation drawings that day. Don’t forget to mark your calendars to attend. The Lutheran Home Assisted Living Apartments are part of the larger Vinton Lutheran Home Communities, including a Home Health Agency, Medicare Certified Long-Term Care Nursing Facility, and Independent Living Town Homes.
