4th STREET DINER NEWS

The 4th Street Diner meal on Sunday, September 16th will be Roast Beef, Mashed Potatoes/Gravy, Broccoli/Cheese Sauce, Mixed Green Salad, Peach Crisp, WW Bread, Milk.

On Monday, August 6th, the afternoon activity was a Pepper Card Party. After cards, refreshments were served by the card club.  HACAP provided the beverages.

On Tuesday, August 7th, the afternoon activity was Surprise Bingo.  Vickie Holst was the volunteer caller.  June Salerno handpicked the games.  Game one was a Letter “X” with Elsie Knaack winning an air freshener.  Game two was All Around the Free Spot with Margaret Fuehrer winning facial scrub.  Game three was Three Bingos on One Card with Clete Friedman winning Bubble Bath.  Game four was Wild Number with JoAnn Roster winning a free meal.  Hazel Eastwood won bedroom slippers with Blackout on game five.

On Wednesday, August 8th, the afternoon activity was 10-Cent Bingo.  The volunteer caller was Wendy Pennington.  Mae Wilhelmi handpicked the games.  Game one was the Letter “X” with Elsie Knaack winning.  Game two was Wild Number Three Bingos with Ruth Wieditz as the winner.  Game three was a 9-Pack with George Eckhart winning.  Game four was Two Hard Way Bingos No Free Spot with Clete Friedman winning.  Greta Geiken and Elsie Knaack won game five with Blackout.

On Thursday, August 9th, the afternoon activity was 10-Cent Bingo.  Maureen Haisman was the volunteer caller.  Clete Friedman handpicked the games.  Game one was a Flag with George Eckhart as the winner.  Game two was Three Bingos with Virginia Schnepf and JoAnn Roster as the winners.  Game three was a 12-Pack with Orville Ellingson as the winner.  Game four was a Baseball with Ruth Wieditz as the winner.  Ruth Wiedtiz also won game five with Blackout.

On Friday, August 10th, there were 5 tables of 500 played.  Merle Roths won 1st place with 3,410 points.  Marge Foster won 2nd place with 3,040 points.  Bill Milne won 3rd place with 2,560 points.  After the games, refreshments were provided by Card Club.  Beverages were provided by HACAP.

On Monday, August 13th, there were 5 tables of Pepper Cards played.  Don Selken won 1st place with 254 points.  Bill Milne won 2nd place with 241 points.  Merle Roths won 3rd place with 231 points.  After the games, refreshments were provided by Card Club.  Beverages were provided by HACAP.

On Tuesday, August 14th, we celebrated all the August Birthdays.  The honored guests were Mary Rogers, Bertha Pohlmann, Diane Harris, Gary Bearbower, Bev Bearbower, Carolyn Howard, Delores Newton, Bonnie Fett, Arlene Merchant, Hazel Merchant, Peg Schott, and Rita Stewart.  Peg Schott won the Vinton Value Dollars and Rita Stewart won the free meal.  Stuart Gulick provided the afternoon musical entertainment.

On Wednesday, August 15th, Judy Mehlert provided the afternoon musical entertainment.

On Thursday, August 16th, the afternoon activity was 10-Cent Bingo.  Vickie Holst was the volunteer caller.  Elsie Knaack handpicked the games.  Game one was Stair Steps with Ruth Wiedtiz as the winner.  Game two was a 9-Pck with Greta Geiken winning.  Game three was Wild Number Three Bingos with Greta Geiken as the winner.  Game four was a Picnic Table with June Salerno as the winner.  JoAnn Roster won game five with Blackout.

On Friday, August 17th, the afternoon activity was a 500 card party with 6 tables of players.  First place went to Milo Cobb with 5,720 points.  Bill Milne won 2nd place with 5,140 points.  Don Selken won 3rd place with 3,250 points.  After the games, refreshments were provided by the Card Club.  Geri Shaffer brought a meat and cheese tray to share for her 90th birthday.  Beverages were provided by HACAP.

Serving Buffet from 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM, Monday through Friday.  A choice of salads is available on the buffet.

 

Everyone is WELCOME!  Suggested contribution for individuals 60 years old or older, and their spouse (regardless of age) is $2.75 for the meal.  Individuals who are not yet 60 are WELCOME but need to pay $3.75 for their meal.  Carryout meals are available.  We deliver meals to Vinton, Newhall, Urbana, and Garrison/Mt Auburn.  The suggested contribution is $3.00/meal if you are 60 or older.  We also have nutritious frozen meals and liquid supplements.  Delivery is throughout Benton County.  Please call 319-472-4761 for more information about services or to reserve a table for groups of 3c or more. 

 

Each month the 4th St Diner has a special day set aside to celebrate birthdays for that month.  It is always scheduled for the second Tuesday of each month.  Anyone having a birthday for that particular month is encouraged to make a reservation for themselves and any guests they would like to celebrate with.  The names of all birthday celebrants who have made a reservation for the Birthday Table are entered into the door prize drawing.  We currently have two door prizes scheduled for each month.  The first is $5 in Vinton Unlimited Value Dollars generously donated by Vinton Unlimited.  The second is a gift certificate for a free 4th Street Diner meal.  Reservations for the Birthday Dinner table can be made by calling 472-4761.  Reservations need to be made by 10:00 AM on the day of the celebration.
