Vinton's first Urban Truck Farm, The Old School Produce Company, located at the old West School Building on West 8th Street, is now open for business.
Our first early crops of radishes and five different kinds of salad greens are now being harvested and will be available at Natures Corner Monday to Friday 9 to 5 and Saturday 9 to 12 until our retail facility is completed at the gardens. You may have noticed all of the activity recently as we cleaned up the grounds, prepared the soil and planted the crops. So far we have Tomatoes, Broccoli, Brussels sprouts, Cabbage, Kale, Kohlrabi, Radishes, Turnips, Raspberries, Horseradish, Potatoes, Okra, Beans, Chives, Rhubarb, Lettuce, Peppers, Cucumbers, Carrots, Parsley, Parsnips, Squash, Beets, Basil, Oregano, Cilantro, Swiss Chard, Spinach, Arugula, Celery, Leeks, and Zucchini in the ground. Watch for more information about our grand opening and updates on other crops as they become ready for harvest.
At the Old school Produce Company we are using state of the art farming techniques while at the same time employing Sustainable Agriculture Practices that utilize minimal synthetic fertilizers and pesticides. Please stop in to Natures Corner today and talk to Cindy, Cheryl, Joanna, or Barb to learn more about our operation and check out our produce in their coolers.
