Looking for supercalifragilisticexpialidocious entertainment? “Saving Mr. Banks” plays the Palace Friday, January 17 through Thursday, January 23 at 7 pm, and Monday, January 20 at 2 pm.
Rated PG-13, with a fairly low score on kids-in-mind.com, low being good, for a touch of sex and profanity and a bit more violence, this movie should prove to be perfect family fare for all but your youngest children. I’ve heard so, so many rave reviews of this film, from both mainstream media and local patrons who’ve already seen it.
More than one exclaimed, “This is the best movie I’ve ever seen!” Wow.
You really can’t lose with Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson headlining. To fulfill a 20-year-old promise to his children, Walt Disney (Tom Hanks) brings author Pamela Travers (Emma Thompson) to California from England to gain the film rights to her book "Mary Poppins."
Travers proves hard to convince, but Disney is steadfast, and eventually wins her over, but not without much angst, and fun, along the way.
Don’t risk disappointment – we anticipate sellout crowds this weekend. Purchase your tickets in advance! You’re sure to leave the theatre with a song in your heart!
WANTED – VOLUNTEER USHERS
With our new ticketing system in place, the Palace Theatre is in need of more volunteer help, in the form of ushers. We are currently looking for two ushers on Friday and Saturday evenings, one or two on Sundays, and one on Mondays. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays are already covered.
Empty-nesters Duane and Karen Randall began last week, ushering the Tuesday evening crowd. I have it on great authority (Gerald) that Duane is a remarkable, take-charge usher, who will have you in the proper seat with little to no fuss, in no time. Do not try to bypass this usher. You’ve been duly warned.
Mr. Randall is already making demands for usher shirts to announce his position, a request which, in the interest of patron safety, we plan to fulfill.
