ACT I of Benton County is currently holding auditions for their summer production, the musical The Burnt Part Boys. Auditions continue tonight, Monday, June 6 from 6:30 to 8 pm in the ACT I Center.
Four male singer / actors are needed for characters aged 14 and 18, and one female singer / actor for a character age 13.
Four adult male singing actors are needed for secondary roles.
The Burnt Part Boys is set in a small coal mining community in West Virginia. The story concerns the five teenagers, four of whom lost their fathers in a mining accident ten years earlier, who climb the mountainside to the mine where their fathers died. These are strong, well-written characters, which showcase the talents of a group of young singing actors. The show is a mix of comedy and drama, set to a lively and tuneful Bluegrass score giving the show a distinctive Appalachian flavor.
Performances will be the last week in July.
