MAY
It’s almost blockbuster season!! But first the big screen shares the spotlight with ACT I, as our local community theatre presents “Plaza Suite” in May.
Watch your calendars closely – first up is “Soul Surfer” showing three nights only, May 6 - 8. The Palace will close May 9 – 14, 20 and 21 for the play. “Arthur” and “Water For Elephants” are up next in short 5-day runs, followed by “Hop” as school lets out and our schedule returns to normal.
The Sad Cafe
On Thursday, May 19 the Palace will have the unique opportunity to screen an independent film, “The Sad Café.” This movie stars Iowa native and Penguins Comedy Club regular, Brad Fowler, and was directed by Columbia College film student, Bennie Woodell.
Jack (Brad Fowler) is a gun for hire who desires more out of life. His past has stifled close relationships. Rose (Katie Lanigan) works at a café run by her father. She feels left behind in the world and longs to find her one and only. Every day Jack comes into her café. Every day she has his tea waiting for him. Every day they are silent with each other until one day, thanks to Jack’s partner Steve (John Laflamboy), he decides that he can’t continue living this way. Jack surprises Rose with flowers and the romance begins, leading Jack to the decision of a lifetime. What Jack is not prepared for is the alteration of not only his life, but the life of Rose as well.
Tickets for this special one-time showing will be $8 and available for purchase online and at the theatre soon.
