Urbana Days was celebrated this past weekend. Residents came out to enjoy the wrap-up on Saturday evening with a free concert on Main Street. The town came out and enjoyed several vendors at the evening concert.
Many of you in the area know immediately who I'm talking about when I say, "The Schmidt Brothers." The band held the family-friendly concert with a mix of country, classic rock pop tunes. Songs that were included, were "Shut up and dance" which brought some of the crowd to their feet to do just that. They also sang songs from Styx including "An American Band" and many other great choices.
The Schmidts continue to be a staple in the community through bookings like this one, not that we don't want to share them with the world, but it's fun to see them locally. The three brothers maintained a level of that down-home feel as they entertained while treating the crowd to a show fit for a concert in front of thousands.
The three brothers Stephen, Sam, and Gabe had an early start in music thanks to their dad, Victor who was a member of "Johnny and the Rockers." Their dad naturally involved his sons in the world of music as young boys. The three attended Vinton-Shellsburg and also learned through their schools musical programs participating in jazz and marching band. Their love for music has grown from there. This is just the normal evolution for the young men, and they are rockin' it!
Well done guys!
