ISU STUDENTS NAMED TO FALL SEMESTER DEAN'S LIST

More than 7,980 Iowa State University undergraduates have been recognized for outstanding academic achievement by being named to the 2014 fall semester Dean's List. Students named to the Dean's List must have earned a grade point average of at least 3.50 on a 4.00 scale while carrying a minimum of 12 credit hours of graded course work.

NCCC-FEMA Corps Class 21 Spotlight: Emily Hink

By: Robert Cook Jr, FEMA Corps member Emily Hink of LItitz, Penn., is serving on  team Spruce 6 in AmeriCorps NCCC-FEMA Corps Class 21. She arrived in Vinton in August of 2014 to start her 10-month service term with the program. Emily joined the program because she wanted to spend her time giving back to communities and thought that this program was the best way to do just that.

Geri Davis to celebrate 80th birthday

Geri Davis of Vinton will be celebrating her 80th birthday on Saturday, February 7th. Cards may be sent to her at 1010 Cedarview Dr., Vinton, IA 52349. Her family includes Mike and Amy Anderson of Valley, Nebraska; Lori and Frank Grosso of Plano, Texas and Linda and Kevin Lauver of Rockwell City, Iowa. She has five grandchildren.  Geraldine Jean Pierce Anderson Davis was born in Iowa Falls, Iowa on February 7, 1935.

North Eden Willing Workers 4-H News

The North Eden Willing Workers 4-H club met on Sunday January 5th at 5:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vinton. Committee Meetings and Officers Meetings were held before starting at 5:10 p.m. to discuss and new business that the committee would need to share with the club. The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance and the 4-H Pledge.

Eggert, Woltemath, named to Concordia Fall Honors List

 Concordia University, Nebraska named 251 students to its honors list for the fall 2014 semester. The top 25 percent of undergraduate students who complete at least 12 credit hours, receive no failing grades in the semester and earn a semester GPA of at least 3.5 qualify for the honors list. Students on the honors list include: Morgan Eggert, a sophomore from Atkins, Iowa Kenzie Woltemath, a junior from Atkins, Iowa About Concordia University, Nebraska Concordia University, Nebraska, founded in 1894, is a fully accredited, coeducational university located in Seward, Nebraska, that currently serves more than 2,300 students.

Fall 2014 University of Dubuque Dean's List

The University of Dubuque congratulates the following students on being appointed to the Fall Semester 2014 Academic Dean's List.   To be named to the dean's list, a student must earn a grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale for that semester. The University of Dubuque, founded in 1852, is a private, coeducational, professional University with a focus in the liberal arts.

Jacob Stenberg named to Upper Iowa University's Fall 2014 Dean's List

  Upper Iowa University is pleased to announce the Dean's List for the Fall semester 2014. To be honored, the undergraduate must have earned a minimum 3.50 GPA for the semester and be enrolled as a full-time student. A thank-you from the family of Dave Hite

The Family of Dave Hite wishes to express our gratitude and thanks to our many friends who sent cards, flowers, prayers, memorials and attended Dave’s visitation and memorial service. Dave was a humble man; we all know that. I am sure he would have been overwhelmed with the outpouring of love and friendship from the community. A special thank you to our Vinton Fire Department for their moving tribute presentation of the “Last Call for Chief Hite.

VFW thanks businesses for support of Poppy Days

VFW members thank Terry Ehlinger for his support of Poppy Days. On Saturday, Nov. 8, VFW Post 8884 members and auxiliary members distributed poppies in several businesses in the Vinton area, including: Fareway, Theisen's, Johns Quick Stop and Ehlingers. The VFW presented certificates of thanks to each business. Donations from the poppy project go towards emergency funding for vets, youth education, supporting the van which takes Benton County vets to VA facilities at no charge to the them, and other support for veterans and their families.

Students with a semester grade point average of 3.60 or better, and who are graded (letter grade, not pass/fail) for six or more semester hours, are eligible for inclusion on the Dean's List.
