AmeriCorps NCCC Class 19 Team Leader Spotlight: Caitlyn Reynolds

Caitlyn Reynolds, from Southfield, Michigan, is the Team Leader for Cedar 5 in NCCC’s Class 19. She arrived in Vinton on January 8, 2013, to start her 11-month service term leading a team of people between the ages of 18 and 24. Cedar 5 is made up of nine people from across the country, and they will serve together in a number of service projects across the North Central Region.

Jess Tyler, from Moore, Montana, is the Team Leader for Maple 3 in NCCC’s Class 19. He arrived in Vinton on January 8, 2013, to start his 11-month service term leading a team of people between the ages of 18 and 24. Maple 3 is made up of 11 people from across the country, and they will serve together in a number of service projects across the North Central Region.

AmeriCorps NCCC-FEMA Corps Class 19 Member Spotlight: Jessica Moore

Name: Jessica Moore Hometown: Salem, Va. Jessica is serving as a member of the NCCC-FEMA Corps team Pine 5 at the Vinton Campus. She chose to participate in AmeriCorps NCCC-FEMA Corps because she wanted to challenge herself while helping others. Jessica graduated from Glenvar High School in 2007 and Lynchburg College in 2011 where she majored in history.

Urlaubs offer details on September tour of France

Pastor Mark and LuAnn Urlaub will host an eleven day tour in France September 4-14, 2013. Reservations are needed soon, and remaining space is very limited. The tour is provided by Group Travel Directors. Janet Tollund, a vice-president of the GTD, will accompany and guide the group. She has led many tours in France and studied there as well. The tour will include a first stop in Paris and a city tour with visits to Notre Dame and the beautiful la Sainte Chapelle.

NCCC-FEMA Corps cleans up Hudson riverbank

NCCC FEMA Corps members from the Vinton campus clean the Hudson River Bank. By Moses Sunbeam On Saturday, March 2 a pair of National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) FEMA Corps teams, in partnership with an AmeriCorps New Jersey Watershed Ambassador, organized a community trail clean-up in New Jersey’s Palisades Interstate Park. The group of service-oriented young adults and community volunteers spent the late morning and early afternoon on Palisades Interstate Park’s State Line Lookout Trail cleaning out trash and debris from Hurricane Sandy.

Benton County students earn UIU Presidential Scholarships

  Upper Iowa University has released the winners of the Presidential and Trustee Scholarships for 2012-13.
