Megan Mullen By: Krista Eichhorst Name: Megan Mullen Hometown: Evansville, Indiana Megan is serving as the Hickory 3 NCCC FEMA Corps Team Leader at the Vinton Campus. One of her close friends served with NCCC in the past and encouraged Megan to pursue a Team Leader position after college graduation. Megan graduated from Central High School in 2008 and Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis in May 2012 where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy with a minor in Psychology.

NCCC's Oak 7 Does Disaster Recovery

By Rebecca Bigler   The neighborhoods in Minot, N.D. are full of the sound of hammers and the spray of power washers, while the city is full of events and businesses getting back on the right track. North Dakota's fourth largest city is coming back strong after the flood that hit it in the summer of 2011. Rebuilding efforts are showing some great improvement, and there is no shortage of hope in the community.

Area winners Awarded in Angus Show at Iowa State Fair

Da Es Ro Angus Farms of Columbus Junction showed the Grand Champion Bull in the Angus Show judged August 14 at the 2012 Iowa State Fair. The Reserve Grand Champion Bull was shown by Vajgrt Angus of Newhall. Vaigrt Angus also showed the Iowa Champion Bull. Abby Klendworth of Walker showed the Grand Champion Female. Reserve Grand Champion honors went to Abby Collison of Rockwell City.

Top Honors Awarded in Iowa State Fair Red Angus Show

Alan Leifeste of Cameron, Texas earned the Grand Champion Bull title in the Red Angus Show August 17 at the 2012 Iowa State Fair. Tucker TC Reds of Ringle, Wis. exhibited the Grand Champion Female. Solution Genetics of Cushing won Reserve Grand Champion Bull honors, as well as the Reserve Grand Champion Female, Iowa Champion Female and Iowa Champion Bull titles.

Banner Awarded in Iowa State Fair Simmental Cattle Show

Doug Wenell of Laurens was awarded the Grand Champion Bull and Iowa Champion Bull banners in the Simmental Cattle Show August 18 at the 2012 Iowa State Fair. Reserve Grand Champion Bull and Iowa Reserve Champion Bull honors were awarded to Gerdes Show Cattle of West Point. Brad Johnson MPJ Cattle Co. of Maurice won Grand Champion Female honors.

Area Boer Goat Exhibitors Win at Iowa State Fair Show

Area Suffolk Breeders Compete for Top Honors at Iowa State Fair

Jerry Quam and Family of Wanamingo, Minn. exhibited the Grand Champion Ram in the Suffolk Sheep show August 18 at the 2012 Iowa State Fair. The Minnesota farm also placed first in the Premier Exhibitor competition. Benda Suffolks of Jackson, Minn. was awarded the Grand Champion Ewe banner. The Reserve Grand Champion Ram was shown by Ruby Mountain Sheep Company LLC, of Spring Creek Nev.
