AmeriCorps NCCC Class 18 Team Leader Spotlight: Caleb Klima

Caleb Klima   Name: Caleb Klima Hometown: Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin   Caleb Klima is serving as a Team Leader for Class 18 at the Vinton campus. He will lead team Maple 5 through a number of service projects over the next 10-months.   Prior to joining NCCC in January, Caleb served with an AmeriCorps program in Madison, Wisconsin called Partners for After School Success from September 2010 through August 2011.

IFAA Offers Iowa Youth $97,000 in Scholarships

  IFAA Offers Iowa Youth $97,000 in Scholarships College-bound Iowa youth active in 4-H and/or FFA livestock projects and current undergraduate students may apply for $97,000 in scholarships available from the Iowa Foundation for Agricultural Advancement (IFAA). The scholarships are available to freshmen entering any Iowa two- or four-year post-secondary institution this fall or current undergraduates attending Iowa State University.

AmeriCorps NCCC Class 18 Team Leader Spotlight: Ellen King

 Ellen King   Name: Ellen King Hometown: Ann Arbor, Michigan   Ellen King is serving as a Class 18 Team Leader at the Vinton campus and will lead a team of 10-12 Corps Members over a 10-month period. Her team will serve on four to seven service projects throughout the North Central Region.    This, however, is not her first experience serving with an AmeriCorps program.

New Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) Policy Enacted

  John R. Whitaker, State Executive Director for the Iowa Farm Service Agency announced that there is a new Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) policy for 2012. In addition to the current regulations, this new policy reviews the combination of both farm and non-farm limitations and if these together exceed $1 million, program participants are ineligible for direct payments under the DCP and/or ACRE programs.

Katie Kabot   Name: Katie Kabot Hometown: Stamford, Connecticut   Katie Kabot is serving as a Class 18 Team Leader at the Vinton campus and will lead a team of 10-12 Corps Members over a 10-month period. Her team will serve on four to seven service projects throughout the North Central Region.   Katie has had the opportunity to observe through various leadership roles the many components that help a community service project or entity be successful.

Nathan Horst named to Creighton Dean's List

  Nathan Horst of Blairstown, a sophomore College of Arts and Sciences student at Creighton University was named to the fall Dean's List for the 2011-2012 academic year. Full-time students who earn a 3.5 grade-point average or better on a 4.0 scale are eligible for the Dean's Honor Roll.

Megan Hill   Name: Megan Hill Hometown: Havre de Grace, Maryland   Megan Hill is serving a second year with NCCC at the campus in Vinton, Iowa. She served in 2011 at the Perry Point campus in Maryland as a Class 17 Corps Member. Megan is serving as a Class 18 Team Leader and will lead a team of 10-12 Corps Members over a 10-month period.

    Heavy snow and ice can affect natural gas meters and cause safety concerns   With the forecasted large snowfall and drifting snow over the next few days, Alliant Energy reminds customers not to forget about clearing snow and ice from their gas meter as well as their furnace vents and other vents around their home.

He served with the Perry Point campus in Maryland in 2011 as a Corps Member of Class 17. This year Billy is serving as a Class 18 Team Leader with the NCCC campus in Vinton. He will lead a team of 10-12 Corps Members over a 10-month period and his team will serve on four to seven service projects throughout the North Central Region.
