39th ANNUAL HOPPER FAMILY REUNION
The descendants of Jesse and Gertie Abernathey Hopper gathered for their 39th annual reunion on Sunday, July 31, 2011 in the fellowship room of the First Christian Church.
The Hopper family’s military connections over the years, beginning with William Franklin Hopper who served in the Civil War and continuing to those who are currently serving, were honored with displays of pictures, memorabilia and conversation.

Since July 25th AmeriCorps NCCC team Oak 4 has been treated to incredible generosity of Oelwein while working with the city’s parks and recreation department.
The team has worked hard to complete the city’s list of projects. They have built roofs over four dugouts and shingled four more.

AmeriCorps NCCC team Oak 6 Helps Out in Joplin

Oak 6 has been in Joplin, Missouri since August 1. The team set out for their original project in Port Washington, Wisconsin on July 21 where they were scheduled to complete a number of environmental projects including invasive species removal and kiosk building. Just after a week of work in Wisconsin, Oak 6 was notified that they would be leaving Port Washington to help out with the disaster relief efforts in Joplin Missouri.
Oak Seven Goes to Camp in Minnesota

An AmeriCorps team is working in Willow River, MN at Camp One Heartland. The team is working on a variety of projects while at the camp. Each week the team will see a new camp and undergo a different project.
The team spent the first week as camp counselors for camp with children infected with and affected by HIV and AIDS.

Oak One versus Honeysuckle in Munsee Woods

The AmeriCorps NCCC team Oak One is working with Muncie Delaware Stormwater Management from July 18 to September 9. Oak One is assisting this organization with a variety of projects around the community with a focus on improving the environment.
While staying in a cabin in Munsee Woods, the team is helping restore and conserve the former girl scouts camp.
