Johnsons celebrate 50th wedding anniversary

Duane and Marilyn Johnson celebrated their 50th anniversary with family and friends Thursday. Duane and Marilyn Johnson were Married September 2, 1960. They celebrated their Golden Anniversary with a noon lunch at Peony with family and friends. The place mats at the event included the old photograph of the couple that appears here.  

Bev Fiebelkorn hopes first block picnic will become annual event

"We are having our 1st Block Picnic in the southwest part of Vinton. We are meeting at the Kiwanis Park Don Lane Pavilion at6:00 pm for social hour and 6:30 for dinner," reports Bev Fiebelkorn.  The picnic is tonight, Friday August 20. "This will be a good way to meet our neighbors and hopefully this occasion will blossom into even a bigger event next year.

Rodman family welcomes a new son

Bryan, Natalie and brother Tanner Rodman, Dysart, are proud to announce a new addition to their family.Axel Wayne Russell Rodman was born Monday, June 28, 2010 at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo. He weighed 7 lbs 11.8 oz. and measured 20 1/2 inches long.  Tanner and Axel's grandparents are Russell and Kristy Haefner, Dysart, and Dave and Sue Rodman, Brooklyn.

Big Red Pays a visit

This summer, Mike and Carolyn Hibbs of Vinton grew this large tomato in their garden. Carolyn said, "It's only takes one slice for a sandwich!" There's nothing like a homegrown tomato!
